New boss has instituted morning reports, which is cool, except those reports still need to be made even if I have late night coverage as well. Not so cool. C’est. Times of change. Came across this quote in the process of pondering this:
“There is nothing like returning to a place that remains unchanged to find the ways in which you yourself have altered.” – Nelson Mandela
I think, however, that’s just a convoluted way of saying you can never go home again.
What’s a little weird is I’m entering the end of year evaluation and rating cycle now in the same state as I did last year — with a new boss who doesn’t know me, and hasn’t set any goals for me, so measuring my performance against those goals is going to be a chore … and since our compensation is to some degree measured by that (though not our bonuses, if I have everything straight), that’s all a little worrying.
I had a dream that they took my two common-stand 19" NEC flat panels at work and replaced them with 15" CRT screens. Honest, it wouldn’t be that big of a deal, but in the dream it was a much bigger deal. Other than that, it was just a lot of dreaming about work in general. Not good.
Finally, in an ironic twist, it seems I’ll be working on labor day, but not long enough to qualify for a comp day. What a bitch.
