Just finished Iron Sunrise, knocking a book off my stack without accumulating another before finishing it. Progress!

In any event, I enjoyed Iron Sunrise more than its prequel, Singularity Sky. This was because Stross decided to stop spending so much time explaining his fiction, and just write a space swashbuckler story instead. You can’t fight the swashbuckler space story. In the end, that’s all it was, some good guys, some bad guys, a few plot twists, some good guys that seem bad, some bad guys that seem good, and a thrilling explosive conclusion.

It’s sort of like a romance novel; you know you’re not going to learn anything new from it, or go through any deep thoughts, but in the end the guy is going to get the girl and all will be well. 6/10.
