So it took a month to get somebody to come look at my compressor.

Now that they show up, everything works properly. I’m peeved. It also cost me $132.11 for him to tell me everything is working fine.

Best hypothesis is that relays were getting stuck on the heat pump, but they aren’t now.

Grand.

I guess if the heat pump starts freezing on or off again I’ll just order the relays and replace them myself, since it’s not worth $100 an hour for me for some guy to go “yup, looks good.” The guts of the heat pump are pretty simple, the only dangerous bit is that it’s over 20 years old, so it may be hard/expensive to buy replacement parts.

But, then, a low/hi relay can’t be that expensive, right?
