Went to a Connecticut Coffee Society meetup to do a cupping. Tried two Uganded coffees, and one from Burma. The latter wasn’t roasted particularly well, and tasted pretty ass-awful, but the first two were a bit interesting, and it was nice to be exposed to a formal cupping, if in an enthusiast (and as such slightly less formal) setting.

Inspired by this, at home I cupped a Kona from Gevalia against my fresh roasted Harar (still two weeks old, mind you). Both were obviously roasted too far for proper cupping, but was fun to just give it a try. The difference was epic. There’s a reason I only drink my coffee these days…

On the other end of the spectrum, went to Churrascaria Plataforma on Sunday for a dinner of meat, meat, and more meat. The salad bar was alright, but nothing to get too excited about. The four servings of sirloin, three servings of flank steak, short rib, beef rib, spare rib, pork tenderloin, steak tenderloin, tenderloin wrapped in bacon, ribeye, sausage, chicken, squid, lambchop, lamb, and prime rib were all decent (none incredible; the sirloin was the best of the bunch) … but I don’t really want to think about meat at the moment. Or for the next week or so. Originally was thinking of eating at Michael Jordan’s steakhouse tonight, but that thought now sounds … disgusting. This type of place could turn me vegetarian. For a week or two (which is good, since I’m doing it again in two weeks in Philly). I would say I probably got my money’s worth … but I don’t think I’d do it again. Ugh.
