2009-10-19 : rambling
I got a prescription for some physical therapy. I went to the physical therapist’s office (which happened to be housed in the same facility as my doctor) and dropped off my prescription. In return I got a two page warning in all capital letters about how I need to ensure that my insurance company covers physical therapy at this facility.
I called my insurance company to try to figure things out. After a little while on hold, I started explaining that I was trying to verify coverage, gave over the information, and then I was put on hold. That is, my insurance contact called my physical therapist, to verify if I was covered, and was then put on hold. Once she got back, she confirmed that I was covered, and was very helpful in providing all of the coverage information and stipulations, but I was struck, again, by the amazing incoherence and disorganization of our medical system.
